BIOGRAPHY
Edward Mauritius Münch was born in Mannheim (GER) in 1990 and as a pianist has been awarded several times at the German competition "Jugend musiziert". Due to his membership of the young talents network "Amadé" he received piano lessons from Prof. Rudolph Meister at the University for Music in Mannheim and then studied "school music" at the University for Music Freiburg im Breisgau. In addition to the main subject piano with Prof. Dr. Tibor Szász he also had lessons in bassoon and singing (Prof. Reginaldo Pinheiro) and studied orchestral and choral conducting as an artistic major (Prof. Manfred Schreier). In the seasons 2013/14 and 2014/15 he was musical assistant and conducting trainee at the Theater Freiburg and from 2014-16 musical director of the "Landwasser Chamber Orchestra" in Freiburg. In October 2015, he successfully completed his artistic "state examination", in April 2016, his studies of history at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg. He also received and receives still important inputs from the chief conductor of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris Douglas Boyd, from the former head of the Zurich Singakademie Timothy Brown, from Prof. B. Tommy Andersson and Glenn Mossop in Stockholm, from the permanent guest conductor Prof. Gerhard Markson and from Prof. Johannes Schlaefli from Zurich.
From March 2016 to January 2019 he continued his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz in orchestral conducting with Prof. Marc Piollet. From October 2017 until July 2019 he also studied choral conducting with Prof. Johannes Prinz - head of the Vienna Singverein, where Münch is also a member. He was inspired by taking part in projects with Zubin Mehta and Andrés Orozco-Estrada, with whom he is still in contact. Since October 2019 he continues his master in orchestral conducting in Graz.
He worked with the ÖH-Orchestra of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, the Savaria Symphony Orchestra in Szombathely (HU) as part of his studies, the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie (GER) Konstanz and the Orion Orchestra (Wales, UK).
In Graz he has been conducting the symphonic wind orchestra "Grazer BläserVielharmoniE" since October 2016 and the chamber orchestra Diletto Grazioso from March 2017 to October 2019. In 2017 he founded with fellow students the vocal ensemble "Horus Vocals" as a bass-baritone singer and in November 2017 he became assistant conductor of the Grand Orchestra "recreation" of the Styriarte. Since September 2018 he has been leading the Singkreis Wolfsberg, since February 2019 additionally the abbey choir of St. Paul in the Lavanttal where, since July 2019, he has also taken over the position as chapel master of the monastery.
As part of his work as a musical assistant at "vocalforumgraz", he was already responsible for the production of the Belgian director Michiel Vandevelde "Grand Hotel Abyss" for the festival "steirischerherbst'19".
